Continuous Apple Account verification pop-ups after iOS 26 upgrade

After upgrading my iPhone to iOS 26, I started receiving continuous pop-ups for Apple Account Verification asking me to enter the password for my Apple ID.

Even though I have entered the correct password many times, the message keeps reappearing. It temporarily disappears after restarting the iPhone but comes back again.

Steps already tried:

  • Entered the correct Apple ID password several times.
  • Restarted the device (issue reappears).
  • Verified network and date/time settings.

The persistent Apple ID verification popup in iOS 26, despite entering the correct password and restarting, is a known issue that can be caused by iOS glitches, security settings, or outdated account info. Here are several effective steps to try beyond what has already been done:

Force restart the iPhone using the method for your model (e.g., Volume Up + Volume Down + Side button for iPhone 8 or later) to clear temporary bugs.

Sign out of your Apple ID completely (Settings > Your Name > Sign Out), then restart and sign back into iCloud and the Apple ID.

Check and update your Apple ID payment info (credit card expiration and security code), as this can trigger verification pop-ups.

Temporarily disable FaceTime and iMessage (under Settings) then re-enable them and sign back in.

Make sure all apps are updated and check for any iOS updates, as Apple often fixes these bugs.

As a last resort, reset all settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings) this won’t delete data but resets preferences.

If these steps don’t resolve the pop-ups, it may be due to a deeper iOS 26 bug or a security hold on your Apple ID requiring Apple Support intervention. In that case, contacting Apple directly for account verification help is advisable.

I am having this problem on my iPad Pro. I have followed these steps. I tried signing out, but it won't even let me sign out. I reset the Network settings to see if that would work, and it didn't. I have done a shutdown, hard reset, etc. I was not having a problem on OS 26, but OS 26.1 is giving me the problem.

This issue has destroyed my phone and made it unusable.

I cannot access any application, make a call, receive a text. I only get continuous popups to log-in and I type my password each time, but the pop up recurs immediately.

I have restarted my phone, logged out and back and, but the problem persists.

Is there any way to revert to the previous IOS version so that I can access my contacts or other applicaitons?

Same for me! I was able to change my password through Safari, received the confirmation email and still the settings message would pop up and not accept the new password. I spent more than two hours with an Apple technician through the support page and they told me it was my network. Nope, it wasn’t because even when out of the wi-fi, connected to my 5G, the problem is still there. And I was able to change my password and access my account only via browser. Also, the settings are not recognizing my biometrics. If I knew it was the iOS 26 bug I wouldn’t have wasted hours of my life with this annoyance.
