After updating to iOS 26, when I try to make contactless payments, the NFC app remains in a waiting state. It doesn't give any error messages, it just waits.
I contacted Apple Support, and they ran a remote hardware diagnosis and found no faulty components. They say it's software-related and I should wait for iOS 26.0.1, but I can't find anyone online with the same problem.
Is it possible they'll fix this problem with iOS 26.0.1?

This fixed my issue:
It may be due to the fact that your cards are not fully verified in the app. Open up Wallet & Apple Pay section in your setting and double check if they are verified. Once you have them verified, double taps will work.
What do you mean by check to see if they are verified?
(IPhone 13) - I am having the same issue and I DO struggle at BART Transit system in the Bay Area. I also have issues with other apps that leverage NFC like BRICK.
Recently got a new 12mini all good except tap to at not working, bank have reviewed and confirm all is set up correctly, it appears that nfc is not working for wallet, it works fine for air dro etc,
26.0.1 has not resolved this issue for me
This solution didn't work for me. I have all my cards fully verified, but the Wallet app freezes, spins and is "updating cards", preventing card use while it does that.
