Calendar search not working on iPhone 15 Pro Max after iOS 26 update

Hello,

Since updating to iOS 26, the search function in the Calendar app has completely stopped working on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Whenever I type a keyword (for example, a person’s name or “meeting”), the app shows no results, even though I know the events exist.

This feature used to be extremely useful to quickly find recurring events. Now, without it, managing my calendar has become much harder.

I’ve tried the usual steps (toggling search settings, disabling/re-enabling Calendar in iCloud, rebooting the device), but nothing fixes it. It looks like a system bug, not just a configuration issue.

Please escalate this to the engineering team — many users rely heavily on Calendar search. Could you confirm if this is a known issue and if a fix is planned for an upcoming iOS update?

Yes! That did help! It didn’t the first time around after 26, so I was not convinced to would work this time with 26.0.1. Nonetheless, I tried it. Toggled off both the search items within the calendar app, turned off the phone, restarted the phone, toggled on the two search items within the iPhone app. It took an over half a day. Then whatever magic needed to happen with the indexing did happen. Voila! I am happy for the counsel. I am happy for the outcome! Thank you!!!

I also have the issue on my iPhone 15 pro and iPad Pro. It is ridiculous that once again, with another of the iOS 26 updates, this has happened. Indeed, back in September when I updated to iOS 26 it happened to my phone and iPad. And now with this IOS 26 23B85 version installed now, in November, the exact same issue has happened. What’s infuriating is that when one chats with the Apple Customer Service team they make you run through all the stuff that one knows hasn’t worked the first time in September and fail to acknowledge that this is a known issue and Apple are working to resolve it!

Hi John, I had the same issue on my iPhone 11 Pro but the above procedure, combined with a forced restart (instead of a classic restart, as I stated), fixed it.

I toggled the calendar as advised. Turned phone off then on again. Still the search function in calendar is not working

any other suggestions? It’s a function that is certainly difficult to do without.

I’m delighted that with the new iOS 26.0.1 software update the search on calendar is working on my iPad. BUT the new iOS 26.0.1 software update did nothing to solve the issue of search on calendar on my iPhone 15 Pro. Still cannot search. And, frankly, this is a major issue and I am always on my iPhone and only sometimes on my iPad, and the ability to search in calendar is vital to my running my business and my life. When can we expect to see this resolved, Apple?

I am turning off auto update. My Mac was messed up after the last update too and had to call my computer fixer to come and reinstall several programs. He said that he didn’t know how it updated or even why I received the update because it was for people (unlike me) who like to mess with the kinks. Come on Apple!!!

Go to Settings > Apps > Calendar > Search, turn off the 2 settings there, reboot your device and turn those settings back on. Wait a few minutes for the search index to rebuild.
