Calendar search not working on iPhone 15 Pro Max after iOS 26 update

Hello,

Since updating to iOS 26, the search function in the Calendar app has completely stopped working on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Whenever I type a keyword (for example, a person’s name or “meeting”), the app shows no results, even though I know the events exist.

This feature used to be extremely useful to quickly find recurring events. Now, without it, managing my calendar has become much harder.

I’ve tried the usual steps (toggling search settings, disabling/re-enabling Calendar in iCloud, rebooting the device), but nothing fixes it. It looks like a system bug, not just a configuration issue.

Please escalate this to the engineering team — many users rely heavily on Calendar search. Could you confirm if this is a known issue and if a fix is planned for an upcoming iOS update?

Thank you.

Yes! That did help! It didn’t the first time around after 26, so I was not convinced to would work this time with 26.0.1. Nonetheless, I tried it. Toggled off both the search items within the calendar app, turned off the phone, restarted the phone, toggled on the two search items within the iPhone app. It took an over half a day. Then whatever magic needed to happen with the indexing did happen. Voila! I am happy for the counsel. I am happy for the outcome! Thank you!!!

I see what you mean. From what I’ve read, for some users the update alone wasn’t enough — the Calendar app needed to reindex. In those cases, disabling and re-enabling Calendar under “Siri & Search” or letting the device sit connected to Wi-Fi and power for a while helped the search feature to start working again. Maybe that could be worth trying on your iPhone. Hopefully Apple will still refine this further in the next updates so it’s consistent for everyone.

Download it from the App Store and give it a try. I left it on my 17 pro max just in case the Apple calendar search quits working again. They seem to coexist without any problems with both installed.

I like the Apple calendar search just because it is what I have been using and I’m old and don’t like change 😂 The CalSearch is a no frills app in my mind but it works and works very well. I can search as far back as I have notations on calendar or even in the future.

Hi there,

I noticed this too in iOS 26 on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and on a few of my other colleagues' iPhones for confirmation.

I was on a long call with Apple Support this afternoon and they also realised there was a problem after 30 mins of "checking".

I hope there is a fix coming soon.

Luckily these searches are successful on macOS 26 and iPadOD 26.

I understand your frustration. In my case, updating to iOS 26.0.1 on my iPhone 15 Pro Max did bring Calendar search back to normal — it’s been working fine since then. But it looks like the fix is not consistent across all devices, which is confusing. Hopefully Apple is aware of these differences and will release another update soon to cover every model.

Update: New revelation (for what it's worth). I did a search on my MacOS 26.1 and iPadOS 26.1 for the word "dinner" and it worked... but only for events Oct 2023 and older. What the??? So I thought the key to the error was failure to search beyond 2023. Nope. Searching for words other than "dinner" revealed no results. C'mon Apple.
