Facing Landscape mode issues in Mail on iOS 26

changing display from default to large text gives full screen landscape view - but I believe applies the to other apps.

I tried some gestures and didn’t find a fix yet.

I discovered this as well. It’s a major step backward and needs to be remedied as I believe it’s a complete oversight. Time to go back to outlook until this issue is resolved.

I actually prefer to use the gmail app. I do sometimes use the built in mail app for the convenience when adding appts to my calendar and such. My 72 yr old mother uses the mail app. She pointed this out to me and found it to be extremely frustrating. So this post is for her!

Same here, when I can’t read small print in an email I would just rotate the phone. This new landscape with sidebar is terribly inconvenient. Has anyone found a work around? Lock screen rotation won’t work for this unless you want to read the email sideways….

This landscape change in iOS Mail isn't just an annoyance; it's a masterclass in user-hostile design. We turned our phones sideways to get a bigger, more readable view, and instead, they gave us a space-wasting side panel that shrinks the actual email. It has fundamentally broken a crucial piece of accessibility and functionality. This kind of forced friction is teaching me a clear lesson: trying to do any 'real' work on my phone is futile. If the designers are going to actively make basic functions this difficult, I’ll stop trying and just resign myself to carrying my laptop everywhere. The convenience factor of the phone is officially dead for me.

I don’t like the “glass” update, I am unable to read emails in landscape mode without folder panel, I don’t like the new interface for searching websites and trying to back out of search bar.

The iOS Mail app doesn’t even appear in the list of iOS apps on the support page. How is one supposed to report a bug?

And how does one report a bug on the support page itself?
