Dock disappears randomly on macOS Tahoe 26.0

Based on these logs it looks like the doc is told to auto-hide regardless of what the config is set to when the display either screen-saves or sleeps; I didn't get the bug to trigger while following the log (of course) but could extrapolate that some specific mechanic is taking place that causes the auto-hide disable call to either get missed or not happen.

UPDATE 9/23/25: my dock disappeared again, this time I noted what I did just before...was coming out of screensaver. So seems to be screensaver related like others have reported?

Absolutely. Wait for an update from Apple.

This is a bug in the OS for sure. happening on both my Macs as well.

Judging from all the reports here, this doesn't seem to be a localized problem.

It randomly turns on hiding. I just move the mouse down to show the dock and use right click to get the option to turn off hiding on the dock itself. Settings are hiding off.

Thanks for this ! This is way quicker than going to Settings > Desktop & Dock > switch/un-switch the "automatically hide the dock" trigger.

To hide and hide, press Command-Option-D.

It does not fix the issue, but is far quicker than opening System Settings when you need to restore the Dock.

Same "Dock Disappeared" issue here...I have not noted exactly what I was doing when the dock disappeared...am thinking that it was not screensaver related? I will try and update this post if I note what was going on when it disappears next time. ---Mac Studio M1 Max, 32GB.

I installed the new MacOS Tahoe 26.0 on my mac Mini and now every time the computer goes into a sleep mode, the Dock vanishes and I've to get back to System Settings and reset the Dock. Is there a way to fix this annoyance?

Are you sleeping the Mini? If you are just use the screensaver to kick in at a predetermined time of inactivity and darken the screen at a predetermined time. DO NOT SLEEP THE MINI. If you're away from the Mini for an extended amount of time shut it down. Also shut down overnight. Boot time is rather short so not an inconvenience.

I've had this happen only once, so I'm not sure I'm in the same boat as others here, but as growler62000 reported, I believe I also had been configuring hot corners not long before my dock disappeared.

I lose the activedock2 and also freeze the entire MACBookPro many times a session. I've got a M4 Max 48G 16cpu 20gpu so no shortage of resources. activity monitor across the board is not showing anything above +/- 10 - 20% utilization. Dock I can restart. Finder blows the whole current desktop. Mo

My trading platform I split into multiple instances which for some reason itself freezing up. Simply trying to move a block of icons (10) also will freeze finder.

#1 issue = Finder freezing

#2 activedock2 = crashing

Although this may work in practice (I haven't tested it yet and thank you for the tip btw), this cannot be the official solution. We expect (deserve?) better than that.
