Dock disappears randomly on macOS Tahoe 26.0

Since updating to macOS Tahoe 26.0 (release version) on my MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021, Apple M1 Max), I’ve noticed that the Dock occasionally disappears and does not return. Dock is set to always show (auto-hide is off).

The only way I’ve found to restore it quickly is by opening Spotlight → typing Terminal → and running killall Dock. This instantly brings the Dock back without needing to toggle settings.

I’ve already reported this bug to Apple via the official macOS feedback form, but I wanted to share it here in case others are experiencing the same issue — and also to provide this quick workaround until Apple releases a fix.

Has anyone else run into this?

Update:

In my case the issue is specifically triggered by the screensaver.

After waking from screensaver the Dock disappears.

As a temporary workaround I disabled the screensaver, and since then the Dock has remained stable.

Hope this helps others until Apple fixes it.

I lose the activedock2 and also freeze the entire MACBookPro many times a session. I've got a M4 Max 48G 16cpu 20gpu so no shortage of resources. activity monitor across the board is not showing anything above +/- 10 - 20% utilization. Dock I can restart. Finder blows the whole current desktop. Mo

My trading platform I split into multiple instances which for some reason itself freezing up. Simply trying to move a block of icons (10) also will freeze finder.

#1 issue = Finder freezing

#2 activedock2 = crashing
