iPad Pro m4 2024 - activation and status question

Hi everyone

I just bought an iPad Pro M4 2024 256 GB in Iran. Since there’s no Apple Store here, I'm trying to make sure my device is genuine and unused.


When I first checked the serial number on Apple’s coverage site, it said something like “Not Active”. I don’t recall the exact wording.


After turning it on, the 365-day warranty was activated.


I've seen other messages in stores or online before running the device, such as “Activate your device” or “ Unable to display”. Why do these messages differ, and what does each one mean ¿


Specifically:

  1. What message should appear to confirm a device is truly new and unopened ¿
  2. What is the current status of my iPad in terms of newness, activation, and previous usage ¿

The items in your screenshot are fully consistent with an iPad that has been turned-on for the first time - as would be seen if the device was initially activated on 12th September.


While warranty service by Apple is unlikely to be available in your location, your imported iPad will show the warranty status for the country from which it was exported (and is valid).


Insofar as can be ascertained, you have a new/unused iPad in your possession - and have no cause for concern.

The phrases I mentioned appear before unboxing. To make sure the device was new, I checked the Apple coverage, and the messages were different on different devices in other stores.

On the device I purchased, it showed a message saying “not activated”, and I would like to know what this status exactly indicates about the device.

I didn’t quite understand your response. As you can see in the screenshot I shared, the warranty is active, but my main concern is whether the device was secondhand or had been turned on before I purchased it.
