iPad Air M3 making a weird electric sound

While playing some games. I noticed when I hold my ear close to the speaker. I can hear a weird electric sound and when turning off my iPad and turning it back on, I can hear a different kind of electric sound but when it’s off I can’t hear it and I have to be really close to the speaker is this normal?

Does the sound change if you adjust the speaker volume level? If yes, it is probably the speaker amplifier is picking up and boosting some stray electrical noise.

Does the sound change when the screen times out and goes dark? (Rather than when you turn fully off). This might suggest you are hearing a noisy component in one of the screen driver circuits. It is probably nothing to worry about if you can only hear it with your ear close to the iPad. If it is louder and obtrusive in normal use you could arrange to get the iPad hardware checked by Apple.
