What should I do if my Likewize trade-in value Is wrong?

I sent off my mac laptop and agreed with Likewize a trade in value if £365. They've sent me an Apple gift card for the value of £1. I called Apple support and they won't help, can't find a number for Likewize and they won't reply to any emails I sent their "customer service" team.

Can anyone help? Have I fallen prey to a big old scam....

I have had the exact same issue and am in contact with Apple customer support to resolve the problem. If you read the terms and conditions on the Likewize portal it states the following;

  • 3. Payments 13.1 We initiate payments to you through Apple Gift Card within 3 working days after receipt and Inspection. For purposes of clarification Apple is the issuer of the gift card and Likewize is not the issuer of the gift card.

This read as if it is Apples responsibility to make the payment, hence reporting it to them to resolve. Furthermore, the trade in quote was with apple via their website, Apple have passed it on to a third party not you.

My recommendation is to lodge a complaint with apple for them to investigate.

This is something you'll have to pursue with Likewize. They are not associated with Apple as far as I know.

This exact same thing happened to me this week. I traded in my MacBook and Likewize confirmed - on their website and via email - that they would be issuing a gift card for £155. I received the gift card but it only had £1 on it. I spent over 2 hours on the phone being passed around between various Apple support teams only to finally be told that it was Likewize I'd have to contact and not Apple!

I received an email response from Likewize today telling me that they were investigating with Apple (even though Apple clearly said it's not their issue), so I am feeling pretty hopeless that I'll actually get to see my money back at this point!
