I wanted to add the original London recording of Godspell to my music library but it's only available through YouTube and when I added it I lost approximately 1250 songs from my library. All I have now are purchases.
Those 1250 songs are on my partner's iPhone and iPad but those are not compatible with my iPhone or MacBook Pro, it seems. Is there any way I can get the music transferred to my Mac?

You can lose content from a device if you sync it with a new library that doesn't already have that content in it. Ideally you would backup your library can move it or restore it when changing or restoring your computer.
See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community. The easiest method may be a temporary subscription to the Apple Music service, merging the music on the device into an iCloud Music Library which your partner could then download to a computer, share with you, and backup for security.

Kim, The regular way would be to add the new track to your library on the Mac, and then re-sync the phone. Is that what you did?
