2023 M2 Pro MacBook Pro not connecting to Acer ED240Q gaming monitor

I have a 2023 M2 Pro MacBook Pro. I recently got an Acer ED240Q external gaming monitor and it can't seem to connect. The HDMI ports in the monitor are working fine and the HDMI Cord that I am using works as well. However, when i connect the monitor to the mac, it loads for a while and says cable not connected. Another thing is that when the monitor is powered off, ie. all power disconnected, then the mac recognizes it as a display and I can drag tabs into a blank screen. As soon as i connect the monitor back to some power, it stops recognizing it as a display again

that Acer ED240Q display appears to be a 1920 by 1080display with 8 bits/color.

Interfaces include:

1 HDMI 1.4

1 analog VGA

some models may have a DisplayPort 1.4 input instead of Analog VGA

HDMI cables you want for HDMI-only Displays (higher resolutions than 720p TV sets) are marked as Certified with an anti-counterfeiting tag and are labeled:

"PREMIUM High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "with Ethernet" (up to 4K at 30Hz) --OR--

ULTRA High Speed HDMI cable" or that + "48G" (supports higher resolutions and backward-compatible)

Cables with No Certification tags are good for your standard 720p TV set, and not much more.

HDMI was invented for HD TV sets. it works great at its original resolution of 720i or 720p. At higher resolutions, it quickly develops issues that are complex to solve, and the cables and adapters required to solve are NOT intuitive.

Unlabeled cables "found' behind your TV set will NOT suffice for use with a higher-resolution display.

At these higher (than standard 720p TV) data rates, DisplayPort cables are STRICTLY limited to ONE meter, maximum.

HDMI uses slightly higher voltages, but does not publish cable length specs.

But if you EVER expect to use that ULTRA HDMI cable for a Higher-than-4K@60 display, you should consider limiting its length to ONE meter as well.

Cables "shipped in the box" are notorious for being 'lowest bidder' cables. They usually have the right connectors, but nothing more.
