Apple Watch SE 2ng Gen - All sensors stopped working one fine day
All of a sudden, the sensors on my Apple Watch SE stopped working — it wasn’t tracking workouts, heart rate, or even responding to wrist tilt to wake the screen.
When I tried starting a workout, the green light at the back came on, but no data was actually being recorded. After seeing that many others faced the same problem, I wanted to share what worked for me in case it helps someone.
- First, I tried resetting the watch, but that didn’t solve the issue.
- Next, I drained the battery completely. To speed it up, I started a workout and turned on the “torch” option (which keeps the screen bright), so the battery ran out faster.
- The following morning, as soon as I touched the screen, the watch restarted on its own and everything began working again — this was even before connecting it to the charger.
- If it doesn’t restart automatically, you can connect it to the charger after fully draining it; once it powers back on, the sensors may start working again.
My guess is that the issue was caused by an incomplete software update. I had faced a similar problem last year, but since the watch was under warranty then, Apple replaced it. This time, draining and restarting solved it without replacement.
I hope if you are in a similar situation, it gets resolved by this process.
