iMessage not working on Mac
For some reason iMessage keeps crashing when I sign in and requiring a new sign in. This is a problem on both my desktops but not a problem on my phone! I am totally stumped.

Update: after on on-line chat with an Apple support tech, I was told that my Apple ID had been blocked for Messages and FaceTime because of "reported spam." Hmmm. I was given a link to https://getsupport.apple.com/solutions and told to request an unblock "as a onetime exception." Now I'm to wait 24 hours.
Well, I am now able to stay logged in to iMessage on both Mac computers, but cannot get any messages that go to my phone number, which is honestly the whole point of the tool. When I look in the preferences, my phone number is not listed as "where I can be reached at", just my email addresses for my Apple IDs. Had to talk with Apple support on chat and then phone, they told me iMessage activation failed, and after 12 hours I got an email from Apple that my account was ready to use. They did not blame it on me being a spammer. I begged them to read this thread and escallate it, to see that the issue is impacting more than just me, but they declined. They wanted me to reinstall the OS on both computer instead. They wanted everyone having the issue to talk to them individually.
This is exactly where I am at. My account was reactivated but my Mac is not mirroring my messages from my phone. Ditto for my MacBook Pro - and that is working / syncing even less than my Mac Desktop (MacBook Pro also not showing my phone number as an option in Message's Send/Receive sub cat. Desktop and Phone show phone number in Messages app
Same problem here (Belgium). For me, it suddenly started on September 5th. Without any explanation, my (email) Apple account was blocked for iMessage and FaceTime on all my macOS devices. I contacted the helpdesk via chat, and they told me my account was blocked and that I had to submit a request to have it unblocked. This happened that same day, also via email, with no explanation as to the reason or cause of the problem. I've been having this problem for days now, and it's still not resolved. Now I don't see my phone number on any macOS device anymore, only my email address, but that makes syncing impossible. I contacted the helpdesk again via chat. Still no solution. I was told it was due to too many login attempts (???). The Find My feature also no longer works on all of my devices. I turn it on, but it doesn't activate. So it seems to be a general problem with Apple itself, not with me as a user, because I'm not a spammer at all. On the contrary, I had just reported several spam messages myself. The problems started shortly after.
iMessages stop working on my work computer, a late 2013 MacPro. I called Apple customer service, they did not find any blocks, said nothing about spam. Had me try things I've already tried. Person even called her Teir 2 boss. Last thing they told me, I need a new computer. iMessage nor FaceTime work on either of the two newer MACs I have at home. Like everyone else iPhone works.
No amount of logging on and off, syncing messages, logging on with phone number instead of the apple id, etc. has got my phone number back into iMessages on either of my Mac computers.... Seem to keep getting signed out periodically, and don't get any phone messages on either computer anymore. It all worked perfectly last week. If anyone can share how they got their phone number back on their computers, I'm interested.
The Find My issue was a software issue. Very strange. Reinstalled MacOs from scratch. Find My works again. Still the same problem, after 1 week, with the phone number that is not visible in iMessage and Facetime on all my MacOS devices (all on 15.6.1). No problems on my iPhone (18.6.2). Contacted Apple Support 3 times allready. They say I'm not blocked, but they can't find the solution. After 2 hours on the phone they kind of gave up, and told me to wait and see for some days... Very bizar situation...
Same here in France, since last week I'm unable to log iMessages desktop on my many laptops (Can't complete, error, etc etc…). I can log to iCloud via browser and iMessages keep running on my iPhone but I can log with my Apple Account (and then can't forward messages to other devices).
I don't want to call Apple SUpport since I know they will sent me in an infinite loop of update and so on until all devices will be so slow that I'll need to buy them all again.
If they have silently removed that feature that will be last time Apple Sees my money forever.
Still having major issues 36 hours on. iMessage not syncing between devices, 'Find My' not finding locations of other Apple stuff users, Mac's missing from "Find My..", iPad passcodes not working, iMessage still keeps crashing out....too many other faults going on to list! Multiple log outs / ins, resets etc and still massive faults.
Long time Apple user (since 1994) have multiple devices, 2 Mac Minis, 2020 iMac, M4 Mini, 2 Legacy MacPro Desktops for legacy Apps (FCP etc), 4 iPads, iPhone 12 and iWatch - so I think I'm well versed in Apple kit but I've never had problems like this before.
Maybe my previous post is on moderation or maybe just censored. Anyway: can't log to iMessage account on any of my device including iPhone. Tried on machines ranging from Mojave to Catalina. I can log to iCloud in browser and in phone preferences but NOT in iMessages or Facetime, then preventing messages forwarding to other computers.
Despite being unblocked my messages are only working intermittently and I'm constantly being told that a new user is using my iCloud on all my other devices - driving me a bit crazy - getting the message several times every day now.
This is where I'm at. Going on a week now of having my account "unblocked" and yet my phone number only intermittently shows up as an option in Messages on Desktop & MacBook and messages only periodically sync....but mostly they don't. Messages on my iPhone is the only version that works. Good times.
I got an @icloud email address (never had one) and for a brief moment, saw my phone number in iMessage on my mac computers...then it slipped away. I am hoping an update to the the phone OS will fix this, since it seems like an update to the phone broke it.
And suddenly this problem is solved for me. I don't know if it's related to installing iOS26 on my iPhone, or because I had submitted a request to unblock my account for all the devices that had the problem (apple.co/IMFT-mac). But miraculously, last night after installing iOS26, I suddenly received a message on all my other macOS devices that my phone number was being added to my account. So far, the phone number remains registered in iMessage and FaceTime on these devices. I just hope it stays that way now...
You're not alone. I'm having the same issue: everything works on the iPhone, but not on connected devices. Started after the 18.6.2 update on the iPhone last week.
Agreed! Works fine on my phone but I cannot login on any of my computers/ laptop.
