How to fix blurry footage with adjustment layers in Final Cut Pro?

Check the Viewer menu, verify if it's set to Better Playback or Better Quality.

Use a third party adjustment layer template, or the one Apple built in for v.11, it doesn't matter, they're both just blank title clips that do the exact same thing.

Even with Better Performance selected, merely adding an adjustment layer or clip should make no visible difference until any effects are applied to it. That is why I wondered if there was something else involved, i.e., if the adjustment layer was not just an empty title but included already some effects.

I am not following this. It seems overly complicated.

To create an adjustment layer, all you need is to make a new title - in Motion -, delete the Text layer, and check the box for Title Background. No need to add anything, or change anything else.

Are you adding any Effects *in* the Adjustment Layer Motion project published to Final Cut?

The latter is a built-in feature in version 11.*

The former is supposed to be a title but can come from anywhere. If this is your case, maybe the particular title you are using has some effect or preset applied

Just out of curiosity, when you create your Adjustment layer in Motion, do you use a Fractional Frame Rate? (like 29.97, 23.98 or 59.94?)

That's weird... Why do the two methods have such noticable performance differences? HHhhmmm...
