MacBook M1 Pro Airplay to LG WebOS QNED TV not working

Hi All,

I have a Macbook M1 Pro 2021 running the latest version of Sequoia 15.6.1

I recently bought a LG 2025 QNED TV with Airplay 2.

Whenever I try to Screen Mirror Macbook to LG TV, it doesn't work.

Laptop shows it is sharing but TV shows black screen.

My iPhone 12 Pro/14 Pro both are able to Airplay to TV.

All of the devices are on the same network as well.

Laptop shows this:

But TV is showing Black. Although the TV briefly shows the Laptop name before going black.

It even took the Airplay Passcode before connecting. Tried to screen Same Screen/window or App/Extend. Nothing worked.

I have restarted all devices numerous times and reset Airplay in TV as well.

I tried to connect another macbook air to LG TV, that also didnt work.

iPhone 12 Pro to Macbook mirror also works.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks

Ankit

Im having this exact same issue with my 2025 LG QNED93, even after trying all of these steps:

  • Switch to “Extended Display”, turn HDR off, set 1080p/60 (HDR/refresh rate mismatch is a classic cause of black screen despite “connected”)
  • macOS firewall: allow built-in Apple services
  • Reset AirPlay pairings on the TV + restart
  • LG AirPlay menu: full reset + change code policy
  • Change network stack on TV (IPv6 toggle) (Some LG users have fixed black-screen/mirroring bugs by enabling/disabling IPv6 in Network)
  • Tested both Mac and TV onto 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz to see if video works
  • Remove the TV completely from Home (HomeKit) (This resets the AirPlay/HomeKit trust relationship (certificates), which can get stuck per device type)
  • Made sure date/time/time zone on the TV is 100% correct (auto)
  • Turned off Quick Start+ on LG and restart

It's so odd how it just stopped working. It worked once (only one time).

Hey boss.

So I contacted LG Support team.

They rejected my case and said that since its working on other Apple products (iOS (iPhones and iPads)), the issue wasn't my TV - which of course is BS... as mentioned earlier I had already tried on several Macbooks, none of em worked.

When I got home from work today, my girlfriend told me that the TV had updated its software. Guess what - AirPlay is now working from our Macs as well. 😅

Not sure what to say tbh. Just glad that it's working now. Hoping it will continue working.
