iPhone 16 Pro buyer concerned about seller's verification status

You're thinking about wiring money, to someone that you don't know, using a text message?

Even if this "verification" was on, once you sent the money, there would be no way of pulling it back if this person decided not to send you the goods.

If you are buying this item from an online "electronic marketplace" that has its own payment service (and ways to dispute transactions gone wrong), a request to pay using electronic messages that go outside that system would ring all sorts of alarm bells in my head.

But it's your money. (For now.)

Most folks don’t have key contact verification enabled, or have it enabled only with specific people.

As for what are often cash purchases from unknown sellers, vaya con Dios / caveat emptor / buyer beware.

As for critters, that is entirely your choice.

The local critter most recently acquired — trapped, treated, and socialized — is presently snoozing on my lap.

I would be concerned and I simply won't buy something from someone I don't know unless I can see the item in person. But I'm not sure what this has to do with Apple or iPhone? This isn't a shopping risk forum. This is a user to user only forum for users to ask fellow users for technical help with their iPhone.

Many, many people have been scammed by this type of sale. Not only do they never get the pet, but it doesn't even exist. The photos are from somewhere else.

I wouldn't think of buying the dog unless I could physically see it, first.

Hello~ The fact that you’re concerned at all should answer your question. I personally would absolutely not buy anything from anyone with alarm bells going off… especially when it’s possibly something as important as a pet.

Again, this has nothing to do with Apple or your iPhone 16 Pro. Apple is not a bank and cannot make you whole if you get scammed.
