Paramount+ is available through their own app, or optionally through the Apple TV app when starting this subscription through the Apple TV app as in-app channel on a supported device (e.g. on iPad). [I expect that Amazon will have similar in-app third party channel functions in their Prime app as well.]
The Apple TV app on iPad, iPhone, or Apple TV box will have an additional secondary function that allows “connecting” to external apps. That way, one can select content in the Apple TV app, that will be opened in an external app. This ‘trick’ would only work on Apple’s own system software, so not on Fire TV stick.
How did you subscribe to Paramount+?
- If you subscribed with Paramount+ directly (e.g. on the web), through a separate Paramount+ account, then you will have to use the separate Paramount+ app (or a web browser).
- If you subscribed inside the Paramount+ app on an Apple device, then this subscription is available only on your own Apple devices, through your Apple Account.
- If you subscribed to an in-app channel inside the Apple TV app on any supported device, then this subscription is available only in the Apple TV app on any of your devices, through your Apple Account.
- These types of subscriptions have each their own terms and conditions, perks and limitations, and are not exchangeable as such, without canceling and resubscribing.
- Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t support starting subscriptions to in-app channels (other than Apple TV+) through the Apple TV app on Fire TV devices and Android TV/Google TV devices at this time (which is what the “How to Watch” message is about). But if you are already subscribed to Apple TV app in-app channels, then this would be available on Fire TV devices and Android TV/Google TV devices as well.
