Photos tab in Finder missing after emptying Downloads folder on MacBook Pro

I kept getting messages that I had too many pix on my Macook pro and space was almost totally used up. So I moved all the pix from my downloads folder to the trash and emptied the trash.

After I did that, the Photos tab/folder in my finder window was gone. I googled how to get that back and followed the directions in settings and got the Photos tab/folder back, but none of my subfolders and photos are in it. How can I get them back?

I was able to get that back already by going to finder settings and clicking on Pictures. But now it's empty.


Sounds like you deleted them. Did you look in the Trash(?)


There is a Put Back feature use the Control key and click:






if no insight or resolve you can use a local snapshot and restore your User to before the issue:

Finder >Settings>Sidebar make some changes
