MacBook Pro trackpad sensitivity prevents keyboard usage

My trackpad is so sensitive, that I can't use the keyboard. This seems to be a new development on my MacBook Pro. I have no similar issues with other laptops.

For an old intel Mac verify your battery is not swelling impacting the trackpad, this would be a hardware issue.

Look for any external sign of seam separation...

The trackpad sensitivity cannot be adjusted. A possible workaround for you is to connect an external mouse or trackpad, and go to System Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control and enable the option to ignore the internal trackpad.

Alternatively, adjust your hand positioning. Personally, I have no issues with this on several different Mac notebooks. However, over the years the internal trackpads have certainly gotten larger.
