I’ve tried swiping up, down and sideways but don’t get to my Home Screen. Everything transferred from my old iPad, but once I opened the first app, I can’t get back to my Home Screen.

Are you using a fitted case? If yes, as a diagnostic exercise, remove the iPad from the fitted case - and test.
The Home finger-gesture starts from below the visible area of the screen - and as such, some fitted cases can impede your finger-swipe from starting "off-screen".
