One Apple Watch shows a red battery ring at low charge, but the other doesn’t

Two iWatch 10's, one will show on the watch face the battery % and when the circle around it gets to 10% (might be 20) that circle part that is left turns RED.

I know it does on my iWatch, but not on my wife's, stays the same color on the ring that he customization of the face has for the ring color.

I can't seem to determine why this is, nor web searches doesn't turn up anything like this?

Wife is the one complaining about it, and I have not had a chance to verify if it should, but for her iWatch is clearly doesn't change color?

Any ideas about this?

Oh, I should have posted AFTER my iWatch got below 10%.

My watch does the same, and we are probably using the same complication with a minor difference on the lower row.

This is my watch face:

I use a Widget on my phone for both the phones battery as well as the watch. THAT does show RED. My watch doesn't. However, when I get the Notice that the battery is low on the phone, that shows it as red?

When I clicked on the Battery for the top left, there is only one choice for Battery, so I'm sure we both have the same.

Wonder if it was a recent iOS update that caused this? I too recall it did show red on the ring at one time? That or it never did?

I don't think that this is an Apple Watch 10 issue, since you both have the same watch and different results.

Some settings must differ, either on the iPhone/WatchApp or in the settings for Battery.

Did you compare the settings for Optimized Charging/Optimized Charge Limit and Charging Reminders in the settings for Focus/Sleep in the WatchApp? I have my Charging Reminders disabled, for example.

Yes, both the same... and Optimize is set on on both.

Focus on the watch set to mirror my phone, phone set to what I consider normal, that is I set Do Not Disturb and other options to what I want.

Since I get the notification once it hits the 20%, I do see the partial segment of RED on that notification.

I did a CHAT with Support, they can't see (or allowed to connect) to this subject, but they think the problem might be our Theme which is the same.

It is the Modular one, and 'customized' to Colors.

I am at 21% now, change to the same theme but different colors.

If it doesn't change to red, I'll try a completely different theme and set a complication to Battery and see if that works?

However, it seems to me the Theme shouldn't have anything to do with the Battery Complication?

Time will tell... I will be back 😁

I am BACK.... I hit the 20% mark... and messed with some faces and collected data.

Some FACE CAPTURES:

Original Theme @ 21%

Note the RING color, Green. and now at 20%:

Never went RED.

Now I looked on the watch at the Battery in Settings:

It shows RED, but the whole ring is/was RED maybe?

So I switched the Theme from Modular to Meridian to Nike:

OK, Meridian was always RED, so that doesn't count, but Nike was Yellow and stayed that way....

This is either something WRONG on 2 Watches here or WatchOS 11.6.1 for the 42mm Series 10?

I assume you are on the SAME OS version of course.

Will supply this info to Support, I'll report back IF I get an 'answers'?

The whole ring never is red when the battery is below 20%, it is always showing less and less of the red part as the percentage goes down.

The Nike Watch face seems to be designed in a special way, so that the chosen color will be used for all complications.

Yellow will give you a yellow battery ring, grey a grey complication.

So that's a feature, not a bug 🙂 No need to report that to Apple.

On the Chat, I was turned over to Apple agent who called.

Bottom line, SOME faces will change color, depends on the face.

Depends on the face too, some will switch from the color in the face to red when 20% or lower with the whole ring that color but faded above the red when % is 20 or lower.

For instance, Infograph is like that... when above 20% the whole ring quadrant it green but bright part shrinks as the battery power drops, but at 20% or lower, that whole ring turns red, with bright red showing the % left in a sliding scale.

Not sure why the change, but the agent said no one else has complained about this either?

Oh well, using Infograph now.

It DOES turn RED when 20% or lower on the top left... bar turns Green to Red the entire length when it is under 25 left.
