music library disappeared

While some playlists work, the main library does not.

Library only shows podcasts and audiobooks

Windows, Windows 10

From the sound of things you have installed one or more of:

  • Apple Music for Windows
  • Apple Devices for Windows
  • Apple TV for Windows

A side effect of which is to limit iTunes to managing audiobooks and podcasts, and suppressing all device management features. The new suite of apps is missing many useful features of iTunes, and may not even have correctly imported your existing music collection. I would recommend removing whichever of those apps you have installed, after which iTunes should return to normal showing the library that you would expect.

In the unlikely event that content is still missing see Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community.
