My iPhone 16 Pro Max started smoking and caught on fire 3 days after I bought it

I had an iPhone 11 for 5 years then I finally decided to upgrade last week to the 16 pro max. 3 days later I’m at work and phone rings. As I go to get it, it’s smoking on fire!!! Not charging not in heat. Nothing. So I have my coworker film it after I realize what is happening. AT&T tells me to bring to. Apple. Next day I’m there for 4.75 hours and they give me loaner phone til I get new one. Now apple is saying I have to pay because it’s my fault. Something to do with upgrading the battery pack!?! Dude in 41, and never even knew you could do this!! Why do something to a brand new phone?!? I have video of phone smoking and witness! I’m lucky nothing worse happened, but still at least give me a new phone, don’t put the blame on me??

Don't get an Samsung or any android phone. Because my s25 ultra and z fold 7 caught on fire and it is in my collection and burned my macbook but my mac survived. And my 13 pro max is my first iPhone to have spicy pillow because i did not maintain my phone at all. And first iPhone to have green screen after update. And my iPhone X was having 79% battery health but never had spicy pillow and my 13 pm had it because of new delhi heat strokes and it had only 90% battery health.
