"Shared with You" photos not showing up

"Shared with You" photos are not showing up in Photos. I have tried every solution I could find online, toggled every option, restarted, plugged in to power, etc. and nothing has worked. I'm having the problem on a new iPhone 15 and an older iPhone 11, both running the latest software updates. Funny enough, it works on an older iPhone 8 running iOS 16.7.11. I am at a loss. It is so much easier to have shared photos show up in "Shared with You" than saving them individually from Messages.

I don't really ever look there, but I see "Shared with You" in Photos on my Mac-- it's down under "Shared Albums." But it's not there, that I can see, on either my iPhone or on my iPad. I looked at Apple's sheet on "Shared with You,"

Use Shared with You on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

and it has this:

But I also can't find the "For You" tab! There are lots of places to hide things and to rearrange menus in iOS18, but I swear I've looked everywhere, and I can't find either of those things! It seems like I've seen that before, but I can't remember if it was in iOS18.

When I open Shared Albums, for instance, there are menus, but none of them are appropriate.

Pinned Collections, Utilities, Media Types, and others have menus that can be sorted, and choices can be hidden, but I think I searched them all, and I can't find "For You" or "Shared with You" anywhere!

I'm flummoxed! Let me know if you find it!!

Oh I can find it but it is empty, even though I have received photos in Messages that should be shown in "Shared With You". In your photos library at the bottom of the screen there should be a menu where you can filter photos by year, month, or all. To the left of that menu is a circle with an up arrow and a down arrow - tap that, then tap Filter, then select Shared With You.

That's the kind of stuff I usually say-- While I use Filter all the time, I pretty much never use "shared," so I forgot. Embarrassed…

Mine, by the way, is full of pictures, but none of them are recent-- the last is from Christmas. On my Mac, there are only 7 since then. There are a lot in Messages. I clicked on a couple in Messages (on my Mac) to add them to Photos, and they haven't shown up in "Shared with You" on Mac or phone, though they are in the Library. Hmm.

Clearly, I have no idea how this works! (And there's still no "For You" tab!)

I am having the same problem on my iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 18.6.2.

The last photo in "Shared with you" is from 2023, none of the more recently shared photos from my messages are showing. And it took me a long time to rediscover "Shared with you", hidden away in the menu behind my avatar in the upper right corner of the display.

I used the feedback link at the bottom of the KB article Use Shared with You on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support to report a problem with the article. It clearly needs updating and should be more specific , which photos are supposed to show in Shared with You.

Perhaps only the shared photos we have saved to photos or are from known Contacts are supposed to show. At least, I am seeing only shared photos from people in my Contacts with iCloud mail addresses there.
