Saved a file from Mail and it does not show up in Finder "recents" view

Open a mail with attachments (this is in the stock apple mail app on macOS)
Save one of the attachments to iCloud storage.
Go to finder
click on the 'recents' view

no file visible! I have also tried sorting by 'date created', 'date modified', 'date added' and it simply is not there

How do I make it show up in recents?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 15.5

The Recents folder is a Smart Folder that shows files that were recently Opened. If you simply save an attachment, that is not opening the file and thus it will not show up in Recents. Try adding a Step 1a where you open the attachment (double-click it in Mail), then save it.
