I can switch from app to another but not see the window of the latter.

Kinda newbie Apple dude. Windows dun ****** me off too many times.

I've been working on computers since 1989 with my Dad's PC Jr.

I helped my Grandmother work on her OS 9 Mac and helped her transition to OSx.

It was desperately clunky with a WHOLE lot of bad design ideas, some of which are still here but they are not as overwhelming now.

I love how solid the MacBook M1 Pro is, the OS is. It's absolutely briliant.

However, expanding on the above topic...

I know that I've gotten to the new app because it's respective menu system is on the menu bar, yet there is no window there. I don't remember closing it because I use CMND Q so that this shouldn't happen.

I think it's insane that an app page and it's respective menu system should be in different places on the screen!

I did just discover that missing windows can be found in the windows menu.

Another problem is that I can use the cmd >tilde to cycle through the open pages specific to an app, but often, with Brave Browser , when doing so, one window is missing. I can see it in the Window menu but not in that scroll list. Look in the Windows menu, click it and I'm right back where I was when I left it.

I did NOT close down that window or that app previously.

There's a LOT to like about these devices and this ecosystem

Just gotta find workarounds to silly design decisions.

I thank you for your time and expertise and opinions.

welcome to the Apple fold SweetTart61—

Glad you got that "missing windows" figured out.

Command Q quits an app

if you use the red pill button it simply closes the window, not quit the app( ironically a few built in apps it does quit the app; ex. System Settings, App Store...)

Command N is an option to open a new window for that app in your situation.

reference—verify your settings here...you want that OFF as shown

not sure Command tilde ( ⌘ ~) is the correct term for Command ' to cycle through windows...

anyway does not seen to work in all apps. Check your >System Settings>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Keyboard

on often overlooked feature is exposé (3 or 4 finger swipe down) to see open windows of the same application

see >System Settings>Trackpad>More

Hey, thank you for the timely response!

I knew about the Launchpad swipes.

Yeah, the Cmd~ was a typo. *eyeroll*

Ctrl N same as Windows.

I learned about the red pill when I learned that windows can be closed without closing the app as a whole.

Yes, I did get it figured out, sort of.

I don't remember which app I had open one time, it was a small utility I think.

Somehow it got stuck between pages in a Brave app when opening the Launchpad.

It happened a few times.

There are also a few apps, the Rectangle app for example, don't have a menu bar system and that can get confusing.

Also, I'm kinda struggling with what method I want to use to launch my apps. The "thumb and 3 finger pinch" thing is really handy until you try to put the 50 or 100 odd apps in the order in which you want them.

Just like the iPhone, that strategy is clunky and sophomoric AF!!

I thought that I would try to use the desktop because it's easier to rearrange icons and pretty easy to get to until some situation that I can't remember/recreate blanks out all the wonderfulness that I created on said desktop.

Ain't figured that one out yet.

*another eyeroll*

Hey, thanks again!

:D
