Using single frames in FCPX

Hi all

I have several clips imported into FCPX. I'd like to grab a single frame from some of them and "freeze" on that frame for a second or two. Either standalone, (ie the fram by itself), or possibly with the clip playing and then finally freezing on the frame in question.

What's the easiest way to do this?

With the clip on the timeline, position the playhead on the frame you wish to freeze and type Option + F or go to the menu Edit > Add Freeze Frame.

Once the frame is created you can trim and adjust it as needed.

yes you can, use "retime" after inserting clip into the time line,, with the clip selected and the playhead parked on the frame you want, click on the small clock under the viewer.

then choose "hold"

then, right click the "retime editor" above the clip, and choose "customize"

Then change the "duration" to what you require.

now you can trim the excess clips which are outside the "hold " (red strip on the retime editor). note: you can only change extend the duration of the hold using the "customise" step.

hope this helps.
