Reminders app auto-completing reoccurring reminders on iOS 18.6.1

I’ve been using the default reminders app and have reoccurring reminders (e.g. repeating at the end of every month, repeat every year on a specific date). Sometimes my reminders get auto completed, and it says that it was marked as complete at some date, even though I never completed the reminder at that date. It also changes the year/month so that it’s sometime for in the future, like 2032. In think, the change in year is caused by the reminder getting completed for a multiple times, so a reminder that is set for 2026 and repeats every year, once it gets completed 5 times, the year changes to 2031. I am using an iPhone 13 and am running iOS 18.6.1, though I have had this issue on older iOS versions.

If you are sharing your Apple ID with others, or if you are signed in with the same Apple ID on multiple Apple devices such as a Mac, iPad, or another iPhone, any changes made on one device will automatically reflect across all the others. For example, if someone else who has access to your Apple ID uses a device and marks a Reminder as complete—perhaps without realizing what it was meant for—that Reminder will also appear as completed on your device.

It’s important to note that Reminders do not close or complete themselves automatically. There is no setting or feature that marks a Reminder as done on its own. The only way a Reminder can be marked completed is if someone does it manually, either by you or by another person signed in with your Apple ID.
