Use my iPad while viewing through HDMI to tv

Hi Apple Community,

I’d like to know if it’s possible to use my iPad for other tasks—such as searching the web, checking emails, etc.—while it’s connected to my TV via HDMI and playing a movie at the same time. Can the iPad handle both simultaneously, or is it limited to doing only one or the other?

I’ve tried. I know that I can close the iPad and the movie will still stream, but if I move away from the page, let’s say Netflix or movies streaming from it changes what I see on my TV monitor and the movie stop playing.

if yes & there’s a setting or trick , how ?

thanks

Its possible if you use Split Screen.

Bering up the dock from the bottom of the screen and drag an app from there on top of the other app you are playing video from. It won't appear on the TV screen.

You can further tap on the ... dot menu at the op of the new window, to dock it in split screen and reduce the video screen to a column on either side, so you have a bit more space on the other App you want to use.

Alternatively you may also be ablate use Picture in Picture to keep the video playback app as a small window in the corner.
