iPhone 16 Pro Photos app crop only working proportionally

iPhone 16 pro, IOS 18.6. Cannot crop a photo. I can only drag the corners for propositional sizing. Cannot move bottom, top or side bars individually

Thanks for the reply but that is not the case. I had see that recommendation before and checked it. I can edit the same photo freely on my iPad, it’s the iPhone that’s the issue. Happens on all photos. Very frustrating, this was never an issue before.

It's still not clear to me: do you have Crop set to Freeform rather than to some other value?

I'm not clear on what "propositional sizing" means-- is that just changing the cropping frame?

And, as reference, cropping seems to work normally on my phone, iPad, and Mac. Have you tried a forced restart?

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

This is different from a simple Power Off. I had to continue holding the button down past the "slide to power off" message, and then I released the button only after  the Apple Logo appeared indicating a re-start.

What is your storage on this iPhone? At Settings>General>iPhone Storage, my phone says 50.5 GB of 128 GB used. What does yours say? Do you have more than 10% free storage on your iPhone?

Are you using iCloud Photos to synchronize your devices? If so

…Do you have “Optimize Storage” checked in Photos’ Settings

…Do you see all your iPhone pictures at iCloud.com?

…Do you see all your Mac pictures at iCloud.com?

…Do you have more than 10% free storage on your iCloud account?

I'm sorry-- it's still not clear to me. "do you have Crop set to Freeform rather than to some other value?"

This:

Turns the "aspect ratio" choices on and off. Have you tried setting to other values?

And, by "only grab one of the 4 corners" is it the same one, or any one, or what?
