I have a vocal narrative, mp3 file and I am wanting to add background music to it to form a video. I can drop the vocal into the timeline, but when I try to add the music file, I get a message saying I can either replace the first clip or add the next clip to the end of the existing clip. But I want them to play simultaneously not one after the other.
Tried everything but can’t figure this out?

Put your first audio clip in. Then press-drag it downward to a lower audio well. After you have pulled it down, add the second audio clip into the well above it. Now they will play simultaneously.

Try this. Put in your first audio clip. Then select it. When the controls appear at the bottom of the screen, select Foreground. Then add your second audio clip. It will come in in the background, above or below the other clip.

Oops. I see that you are using iMovie for iOS. The method I gave you was for Mac iMovie. The two are very different apps, so it may not work.

Yes it’s on my iPad so not as easy to use but thanks anyway for helping. Btw the foreground selection remains greyed out
struggling to merge 2 mp3 files imovie isists on seperating them
