Deleted photos are reappearing on my iPhone 8 Plus

on my iPhone once my storage got full a bunch of pictures of my ex popped up after deleting them a long time ago even on recently deleted, i saw my icloud was synced but i dont know why they popped up after a long time (btw its on my iphone 14 idk why it says 8) and in the camera roll it kept saying syn and 59% before they popped up i had around 2k pictures and then out of nowhere 4k popped up why is that?

I"m not sure, and that's pretty disturbing. Were these pictures transferred from some place else, like from a computer or email or messages, or something? Pictures like that are shown in Photos , but they aren't really "owned" by Photos, so sometimes some weird stuff happens.

Frankly, messing around I have found some pictures that I'm sure I deleted about 10 years ago. And they were taken with my iPhone, so the above excuse doesn't work. I did use a 3rd party transfer program for a while, and I'd like to blame it. But I haven't heard of any dependable explanation for this resurrection of dead pictures.

Idk all i do know is they werent on my phone at all, when i purchased a mac book a couple months ago i saw all the old pictures there and nun of my new ones, i quickly deleted them and thought that be the end of that. But i took videos at a concert and my storage got really full and they started to pop up. Idk how icloud worked but when i figured it out i saw they were all still saved on iCloud, once i turned off sync incloud photos they all turned grey and vanished.

Idk how to explain this to my girlfriend but i showed her the screen recording of the pictures vanishing when i turned sync off and how my camrea roll looked after turning sync off and my icloud so she could see i didnt delete anythig that it was all icloud. But is there anyways i can show how my camera roll looked a couple days ago or weeks or even months?

There might be an iCloud backup if that was turned on at "Settings>Apple ID>iCloud Backup," but backup “Restore” is what you do when you buy a new phone, so this safety, if you have it set, requires you to erase everything on your phone and replace it with the backup.
