iPad 10th generation screen turns 90° during software update installation

While installing software update to 18.6 on my ipad 10th generation I get a message that my update could not be verified. when I install the update again the apple logo on the screen turns 90° to the right and and the update suddenly ends with a suc

It seems odd that the screen turned 90° to the right before the update successfully installed.

Could this indicate something more sinister happened during the

install ?
