Brightness reduces on my iPad Pro without adjusting brightness, with auto brightness off

Hello,

I’ve been searching through the community but only find old threads about brightness issues. This brightness behavior of the iPad Pro started last year or so, after an update, never had issues before. (Owned 5 iPads so far) This iPad is now nearly 2 years old.

What is the issue?; Brightness suddenly reduces by about 70-80% while i am working on the iPad. Auto brightness is switched off, screen lock is not the issue. I happens suddenly at variable intervals. Sometimes it doesn’t do it. But most annoyingly when I am outside and brightness is so low, I can’t see anything and the only solution to restore brightness is to lock the screen and unlock it again.

If it happens inside I can still see enough to be able to see the screen controls when I swipe right corner down. Brightness shows at a normal setting and as soon as I just touch the slide (not sliding yet) brightness adjusts to normal again.

Is there a setting which allows me to change this, or is this a tech issue with my iPad Pro?

Thanks,

Friso

Try enabling the Attention Aware feature...

Settings > FaceID & Passcode > Attention-Aware Features - set to ON

When set to ON - the iPad will sense your attention - and prevent the iPad screen from automatically dimming, or locking the display - while you are actively looking directly at the screen. The timeout period is determined by the Auto-Lock setting:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock > select as required
