iPad is stuck on the message "Software update; Install now; Remind me later"

Question

my ipad is stuck on the message "software update; Install Now; Remind Me Later" and won't respond or shut down

I’ve tried pressing install now and remind me later - neither work

I’ve tried short press on volume buttons followed by long press on top volume button to reset with no response

When I push buttons to shut down it prompts me to slide to shut down but because of message on screen I can’t

Any suggestions?

If the iPad is unresponsive, perform a forced-restart of the iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

Timing of the button presses can be tricky - but when performed correctly, the iPad will restart.
