Apple Maps iOS 18.6 showing incorrect “sporting event detour”

Apple Maps has always been my go to. Recently it started showing a “sporting event detour” in my home city. I know the sporting event isn’t for another month and I don’t know how to turn it off and I’ve never seen anything like it before in maps. It takes up the whole screen no matter what location I search in the city.

it also comes up if I search a route to go to another city. It’s our local marathon.

Is it a maps glitch OR the event itself that has accidentally done something to tie itself to Apple Maps?
