MacBook Pro 2023 16" camera suddenly showing a flare

I have a MacBook Pro 2023 16". For over a year, I've used it for Zoom with no problems. A few months ago, I suddenly noticed that the camera started showing a flare from my overhead light. Again, I'd used it for over a year with no problem, suddenly I'm seeing a flare. I've jerry rigged a mini flag using 3m two sided foam tape, but can anyone shed any light on why i suddenly started seeing this flare? It's the same situation in my living room & bedroom: there used to be no issue, but as of a few weeks ago, both rooms have a really intrusive flare now.
