By the way, Apple has never supported Blu-Ray so you need to be VERY VERY specific about what you are attempting to achieve, the equipment you are using and all other details needed to assist you.

What are you trying to accomplish?
What make and year is your iMac?
What make and model optical drive are you using?
What Blu-ray software do you have on your iMac?
Is the Blu-ray disk a commercial disk?
Please be more specific.
There is no such thing as a "Blu-Ray DVD". There are Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs.
It sounds like you are trying to extract video from a Blu-ray Disc. If this is a home video disc, there are probably ways to do that. If this is a commercial movie or TV show disc, chances are that it has DRM on it to prevent you from making working copies.
