Meross Matter Smart Plug Setup Problems
This does not work with my setup. I have a 5GHz ORBI router and this requires my phone to set up the device to be on 2.4GHz router which I can not switch too. I spent hours trying to make it work. Being a Matter product and a recent product, this is unacceptable. I will not get back my time. I wish I had known this ahead of time.
The ORBI router does don’t have a way to turn off the 5GHz on the router so my iPhone could not be on 2.4GHz WiFi for setup. It always gave me after scanning the QR code I almost immediately get the following: "Unable to add accessory! Please turn on your WiFi”. I had the WiFi on but at 5GHz. The iPhone software does not give you a choice of which one you want to use. I wish it did. The ORBI router software does not either, even though there is an advanced setup.
Why would Matter require 2.4GHz? This is what their plug is. In this day and age one would think that you would be compatible with the current standard. I have used Wemo plugs which also use 2.4GHz with little problems and 5GHz.
Only on the box in small print does it say that it requires 2.4GHz. Also in the box on a Matter manual does it say that. Off it goes back to Amazon.
