How much does it cost to repair/replace a MacBook Air M2 2022 screen?

I have a MacBook Air M2 2022 with what appears a damaged screen. I fell asleep one night and there were a couple of credit cards laying on the keyboard and next day I had a black screen with green and multiple color lines running across the bottom mostly on the right side. Will the screen have to be replaced or can it be repaired? What would be the cost in either scenario? I am so bummed as I bought the computer online and it sat in my daughter's safe for about a year before I finally got it and only used a couple of months when this happened. (I live in the Caribbean so cannot have one shipped here affordably)

That's an unfortunate situation.

Typically, these screens do not get repaired, they get replaced. Replacement is not inexpensive, starting around US $600 or more.

Thank you, I thought I had seen a price of $500.00 previously but I cannot find it again. I tried the link you gave but it gives the price for a computer under warranty. I just reset an old Mac mini and may just set this up with the tv screen and use it that way rather than spending so much to replace the screen. I am so upset that this happened to a basically new MacBook, and just a crazy thing.

I don't know if I need to start a new thread or not. I am trying to set up this MacBook Air to use with the tv screen I used with my Mac mini. It is strange, it does not work when I open it, only if the MacBook is closed. I have to open it to type commands then close it to finish. I thought it worked with the screen open previously when I backed it up to put everything on another MacBook. It's only been sitting on a table getting charged on occasion, is this normal?

You might need to go to System Settings... > Displays and then scroll to the bottom of that panel and choose what to show when connected to TV - perhaps "Mirror Entire Screen".

I'm just guessing here since I don't use the feature myself.

And here are links to some of Apple's guidance on the subject.
