Does changing song metadata in your apple music library affect your replay?

I have recently been changing the album art only of some of my music on Apple Music and I have noticed a drop in my music listening monthly. I feel like I have been listening to more than it is telling me and my top songs are not correct. I was just wondering if I have messed up the way apple can read the data and it's not counting songs which I have 'tampered with'. And if so, how do I reset it so that I can have it be counted again in the replay?

I don't believe it should make any difference. Once a track has been added to your library it should retain the same global ID within the library, regardless of metadata updates, which should keep track of all of the plays. Over the years Apple have sometimes messed up play counting when changing the behaviour of crossfade features, and I note recently that someone reported that plays of the last tracks of albums weren't being registered, although I've not tried to confirm that observation. Watch your stats a little more closely to see if you can prove or rule out your suspicion.
