iPhone password app shows “extension disconnected” error when logging into apps

When logging into apps on my iPhone my password options (stored in apple iPhone password app) do not come up. When I click on link for passwords I get an error as follows: ‘extension disconnected. Please open the app and log in’. I’ve closed the apps and restarted the phone but still get the same message. It’s occurring on all apps with passwords except if Face ID set up then no issues accessing the app.
