i placed a magnetic phone case on my macbook, to the left of the trackpad and i think it shut it down. it wont start back up, all that seems to be working is the chime and its still charging

so close the lid open the lid and try again...
You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
Force Shut down your Mac.
Log out, sleep, wake, restart or shut down your Mac
Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
then reboot as normal and compare you results
I’ve tried all of that, I also left it for 24 hours to see if it might wake up. Also tried the brightness. I also don’t even know if it’s on or off, there’s no indication apart from a chime here and there.
