Recovering iCloud data on an iPhone 7 or 8 after my iPhone is stolen

Hey! i want to know if my iphone gets stolen, can i recover my stuff (from icloud) on an older phone? an outdated one, like an iphone 8 or 7

If you're referring to a backup, it can only be restored to an unit running an OS version at least as new as the one it was created from, which requires an iPhone XR, XS, or newer for ones made from 18. Otherwise, it depends on how you stored them.

iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive are available on any computer anywhere, and their data can be transferred from there.


But, as Niel says, the iCloud Backup, which is separate from Photos and Drive, depends on the OS. iCloud Backup is the thing we use to transfer our stuff when we buy new iPhone, so it will transfer to a newer OS, but it has data in it that an older OS wouldn't understand.
