My currant IPod (7th Generation) will not update beyond ISO 15.8.4. Is there an IPod that can go up to ISO 17.0 or later? I really like my IPod.... I don't like using my phone for music, audible books, etc...

Nope. Apple discontinued the iPod several years ago. The iPod Touch 7th generation is the last iPod Apple released.
An iPhone without cell service is basically an iPod, so you could if you really wanted to, get an older iPhone, that can run a newer iOS version and use it as an iPod.
