I have a folder to contain my screenshots on my desktop and out of nowhere my whole screen is covered with screenshots. I can't get them to go back into the folder; there are too many to drag individually.

Navigate to the desktop, either right-click (or Control-click) or go to View in the menu bar, and select "Use Stacks". This will automatically group your desktop items into neat stacks based on file type or other criteria you choose. You can then click on a stack to expand it and see the individual items, and click again to collapse
You can select them all and after that drag them at once
screenshots suddenly appeared all over my desktop
