I agree with WheelieNick. That doesn't appear to be fading. It looks as if the coating has been scraped off somehow. Perhaps a fall or bike accident?
For what it's worth, Apple will not repair cosmetic damage, even under warranty.
It seems like that there is some damage to your watch case. Have you have had a bump with impact while wearing the watch?
