Mac files synced and now deleted

Hello, I recently did a software update on my mac and with the update it started syncing my local files to Icloud.

I am a graphic designer and have tons of clientele files on my mac as well as assets I use everyday. I misinterpreted the files were syncing and my icloud drive was filling fast, so ignorantly I decided to delete my files on icloud drive to save space thinking they would still be safe locally on my mac. I am unaware if there really is any way to restore these files.

Luckily, all my past client work is all stored in a local drive, but also I have about $5000 in just graphic design assets I use everyday that are gone. I thought deleting synced files on icloud drive on my phone would simply keep my drive empty and WOULDN'T affect my LOCAL Mac files because thats generally how cloud storages work like google drive and dropbox. After I deleted my icloud drive files I check my Mac documents folder and notice everything is missing.

Please if there is any way I can recover my files or if anyone has had a similar issue in the past and figured out a way past it, it would be greatly appreciated!

I definitely learned from this mistake, and should've never done anything risky like this in the first place.
