Unable to add my email account on iCloud

I deleted my email account because of issues and when I tried to add it back it said it already exists. However it is not in my email accounts and when I send an email to that account nothing shows up. The only thing I can think of is that is the same account I use for iCloud. I tried to delete that also but it wouldn't let me. Any idea's how I can get my email account back?

I was able to delete and add the mail account to my phone without issues.

The title is misleading and not what I originally wrote. It's not iCloud that I can't add my email address to, it's the Mail app that comes with the iMac. iCloud happens to use the same email address that I'm trying to add to Mail and that's why I think I get the error that it already exists, even though it's not in my Mail account. I tried to delete my iCloud address but it's grayed out and won't let me. I'm still working on it now and will update with changes.

I fixed the issue. It was what I thought. The Mac wouldn't allow me to add an email address to my mail app because it was also an iCloud email address. I was able to edit the iCloud address on my phone, which changed it on my Mac as well and then I could add my address back to my Mail app. Then I changed iCloud back to original. Not sure why I couldn't do it on my Mac but it allowed me on my phone. Also strange that I couldn't add it to my Mail app because it was used elsewhere.
