Unable to charge MacBook Pro 16 from October 2024

I have been using my 9 month old MacBook Pro 16 every day. The other day I noticed it was not charging. When I looked closely the battery level was down to 34%. The orange light on the charging cord was blinking every two seconds, off and on. But no charging. I changed outlet in house, unplugged the charging cord on both ends, looked for "stuff" in the magsafe connector, and restarted the computer a couple of times, hoping to reset the SMC. No luck. If I shut down the computer, and try and charge it, there is no light at all in the magsafe connector at all. Thanks for any help.

THE ANSWER: I brought my MacBook Pro into the Genius bar. Turns out the problem is with the Magsafe adapter on the MB Pro. The technician spoke of replacing the "Magsafe Board." What is so interesting is that you can also charge the battery through a USB-C port! I had read about that, but did not have a USB-C to USB-C "charging cable" to try that out.

MacBook Pro Charing Issues:

Getting this Serviced:

Apple might fix it free of charge, if found to be be faulty device. Depending on your location, Apple gives you a one-year out-of-the-box limited warranty with this. So, see if it is covered. Find the Serial Number, and enter it here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com/.

Setting this Up:

If covered, set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be looked at and you'll be provided with your options. In essence, you have only a few months to do so, as of this reply.

"Unable to charge MacBook Pro 16 from October 2024: The Mac is only 9 months old, and I do have the additional 2 years of Applecare for this Mac. I mentioned I have a genius bar appointment in 3 days but was hoping there was something I might have overlooked. It it beginning to look like it will need to be a repair. Thanks."

You are welcome.

Wait it Out:

If you have a Genius Bar Appointment, then I recommend you just let the device sit aside, and not fiddle with it.
